Derbyshire Aggregates Levy Grant Scheme (DALGS)
The objective of compensating local communities for the
impact of aggregates extraction has been achieved by:
- Prioritising the areas of major extraction throughout
the county
- Working in partnership with bodies such as the Peak
District National Park Authority, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust,
Derbyshire Rural Community Council, English Nature, English
Heritage, local authorities and private landowners including
quarry operators
- Responding to identified needs of Parish Councils, local
management committees, community organisations and
countywide and local environmental bodies
- Evaluating and selecting those projects for funding
which offer best value and greatest benefits to local
communities advised by a panel of local experts including
industry representatives
Projects that can be funded include:
- The provision, improvement, repair and maintenance of
public amenities which are of value and improve the quality
of life of local communities
- Restoration (including provision / improvements to
access) of land to beneficial use for biodiversity,
geological or historical interest and for public amenity
- Restoration of monuments/sites/structures
- Conservation and improvements to biodiversity
- Promotion and understanding of quarrying
