Post-operational or Post-closure Phase

By the time the quarry is closed and all restoration and aftercare L0127 is complete, the site reverts to 'green field' status. Where extractive material and soils remain on site, they must be stable elements of the new landscape, constructed and completed in accordance with planning conditions and the Quarries Regulations 1999.

The minimisation and efficient management of extractive materials in a quarry and their use in creating high quality final restoration are essential elements of a strategy to reduce the environmental footprint of aggregates quarrying. L0075
